It is often the case that the quality and efficient work can only be done when one is stress-free. Productivity too largely depends upon the state of mind. If not rectified, even an individual's stress can largely afflict the whole team. So what steps and measures should an HR advocate for the benefit of the company and the employees? Let's take a look at some of them.
Break from the screen
It is a well-known fact that sitting before computer screen for long hours can cause varieties of health issues. In fact, the vast majority of scientific research has supported this argument. In a three-year survey of 25,000 workers, many complained of feeling depressed, anxious and reluctant to get up for work in the mornings. HRs can encourage the employees to take a short break and come back to work with more focus and energy.
Play concentration music
Efficiency and concentration go hand in hand. You can not do an efficient work if you can’t concentrate on the task properly. How do you improve your concentration? One efficacious activity is listening to music that boost concentration power.
More often than not, these tracks do not have any lyrics on it, rather it comprises the well-defined combination of background music. Give it a try and ask for feedback from the team members.
Plan team activities
Long working hours can affect the social life of employees. Thus, it is crucial to bring some activities in the workspace that would encourage the team members to spend some time together. The more they interact with their team members, the more stress-free they will be. You could plan some short activities like quiz, knowledge sharing, riddles and jokes session.
Replace junk food
“Physical fitness is not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body, it is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity.” - John F. Kennedy. And, you can’t get healthy with all the junk foods that are available in the office. Fast food will make you sick and tired, and this is the last thing you would want for the employees. Instead, adapt a healthy alternative which will both take care of hunger and health. You can also have some creative posters in the cafeteria that promotes a healthy lifestyle.
A short exercise routine
Unless you are a travel blogger, your work is likely to be desk-based. Your comfy chair may not be good for your posture and health if you work for long hours sitting on it. Ask your teammates to take some seconds out of their busy schedule and do some stretching exercises. Not only will it help in reducing the back stress also it will give the flexibility boost to work for longer hours.
Share goals and achievements
When was the last time you have shared your goals and achievement with your teammates? We are very much inclined to adopt the process that leads to some good results. Hence, an environment of sharing the achievements should be encouraged in the team. It will also provide the positive outlook of the company which is extremely essential to believe in the company and the work.
Be the first point of contact
Generally, stress can easily be visible on the face which may disrupt the energy in the team. Take this opportunity to talk to the person and make him/her understand that you acknowledge the stressful matter. It is always better to be a confidant of the employees so that you get to take appropriate actions on it. Moreover, talk to the employees on regular basis and try to empathize their concerns.
Suggest some or all of them to your boss and get the appreciation for your concern towards the team and the organisation.
